Stock futures traded higher Thursday as studies on the Omicron Covid-19 variant revealed infected people were at less risk of being hospitalized. Stronger U.S. economic data also buoyed markets ahead of the Christmas holiday.

Contracts linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 122 points, or 0.3%, to 35,754, and S&P 500 futures were up 0.3% to 4,701, just shy of the index’s all-time closing high of 4,712. Nasdaq futures gained 0.2%.
